This is a very simple exercise:
1. Pick a word: The first object you see, the first word on your book shelf, the last word someone said last night, anything at least semi-random.
2. Pick a memory type: First memory? Best memory? Funniest?
3. (Re)create that memory on a page.
Here’s mine. The word was car, because that was the first thing I saw looking out my window. The type was first. I started by drawing the back seat, me and my siblings, with height indications; the front seat; the notes. I added my dad planing the trip because it was a prerequisite of the memory – no plan, no evening drive, no memory of the dark around the car.
